When former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed credit for mediating peace between India and Pakistan in the tense days following Operation Sindoor<\/strong>, it could have been tempting for New Delhi to stay silent. Silence, after all, is the easiest diplomatic currency. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose the harder route \u2014 publicly rejecting the claim, bluntly and unambiguously.<\/strong> That decision, praised by Eurasia Group president Ian Bremmer as \u201ca deliberate act of strategic defiance,\u201d underscored India\u2019s intent to guard its strategic autonomy, even at the risk of embarrassing a global heavyweight.<\/strong><\/p>\n
